Dumpster Rental
What size dumpster do I need?
Most jobs land on the 20-yard, which holds roughly six pickup loads and covers a full garage clean-out, a bathroom remodel, or a mid-size roof. The 14-yard suits a single room, a small deck tear-out, or a dense load that hits the weight limit long before it fills the box. The 30-yard is for whole-house clear-outs and larger construction jobs, though not for roofing tear-off, which is too heavy for a container that size. Describe the project on the phone and we will tell you honestly, including when the smaller container is enough.
How long do I get to keep the dumpster?
The listed price includes 1 day. Extra days are $10 each, so a longer project just means a few more days at that rate. If you finish early, call and we will usually pick it up sooner. If the project runs long, call before pickup and we will add the days and tell you the number first.
Do I need a permit to put a dumpster in my driveway?
No. Placement on your own driveway or anywhere else on private property needs no permit, and that is where effectively every rental we deliver sits. A public street is the one case with its own rules, and those are set by the city rather than by us, so if the street is your only option say so on the booking call and we will sort it out before a truck is dispatched rather than after the container is already sitting there.
Can you deliver a dumpster the same day?
Often, yes. If you call early in the day and we have a slot open on your side of the county, the container can be on your driveway that afternoon. When the day is already committed, next-day is almost always available rather than a wait of several days. We will tell you which one you are getting on the phone instead of promising a window we cannot hold.
How much driveway does each size need?
The 14-yard is 12ft by 8ft by 4ft and needs about 22 feet of clear length. The 20-yard is 14ft by 8ft by 5ft and needs about 24 feet. The 30-yard is 14ft by 8ft by 7.5ft, the same footprint as the 20 with half again the height, and needs about 24 feet plus genuinely clear overhead. All three need an open approach with nothing low hanging over it.
What do I need to have ready before delivery?
A clear, level spot roughly 22 feet long with open approach for the truck, and no low branches or wires over the drop point. Move cars out of the driveway before the delivery window opens. If the container has to sit on the street, that becomes a city permit question, so tell us the address when you book and we will flag it. Ask for boards under the container and we will set them to protect the driveway surface.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
Usually not, as long as we know exactly where the container goes and the spot is clear when the driver arrives. Send a photo of the driveway with the placement marked, or describe it clearly on the booking call, and most deliveries happen without anybody meeting the truck. If access is complicated, a gate, a shared driveway, a tight approach, it is worth being there for the first five minutes.
Will it damage my driveway?
Ask for boards and we put them down under the container to spread the load. It costs nothing but the request. Tell us if the concrete is newly poured, resurfaced, or already cracked.
What cannot go in?
Anything hazardous: paint, solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, pool chemicals, batteries, tires, asbestos, medical waste, and propane tanks. Also wet concrete or liquid of any kind, and anything still connected to a gas or electrical line.
What if I fill it before the project is done?
Call us. We will pick up the full one and drop an empty, and you pay for the second haul rather than being stuck. It is worth flagging on the first call if you suspect it might happen, because we can sometimes schedule the swap in advance and save you the wait.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
The listed price includes 1 day. Extra days are $10 each. If you need it longer, call before pickup and we add the days.
How much weight is included?
The 14-yard includes 1 ton, the 20-yard includes 2 tons, and the 30-yard includes 3 tons.
What if I go over the weight?
Extra weight is $85 per ton, over the tonnage included with your size.
Can I move the dumpster after it is delivered?
No, and please do not try. A loaded roll-off is far heavier than it looks and moving one without the truck damages driveways and injures people. If it is in the wrong place, call us. Repositioning means sending the truck back, so it is worth getting the spot right before delivery day.
How do I schedule the pickup?
Call or text when you are done. If you gave us a pickup date, we will already have you on the schedule for that day, but calling early is always welcome and often means we get it out of your driveway sooner.
Junk Removal
How soon can you pick up my junk in Modesto?
Same-day pickup is often available, and next-day is usually available across Modesto, Stockton, Manteca, Turlock and the surrounding area. We run 7 days a week, 7am to 6pm on weekdays and 7am to 5pm on weekends, so weekend jobs are normal rather than an exception. The earlier in the day you call or text, the better the odds of a same-day slot. Tell us roughly what you have and where you are, and we will confirm the first open window.
What items do you take?
We haul furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, carpet, yard waste, construction debris, hot tubs, sheds, fencing, decking, pianos and general household clutter. Whole-property jobs are routine too, including garages, attics, basements, storage units, estates and post-eviction cleanouts. We also handle light demolition such as interior drywall and concrete removal. If you are not sure about a particular item, call or text and ask. It is a quick answer, and it saves you guessing before the crew arrives.
Do I have to be home, and do I need to move anything first?
Someone needs to be there at the start to approve the price and point out what goes, but you do not have to stay for the whole job. Nothing needs to be sorted, staged, carried outside or taken apart first. The crew does all the lifting and loading, including items from upstairs rooms, tight garages, back yards and long rural driveways. Point at what you want gone and the crew handles the rest, then sweeps the space before leaving.
How long does a junk removal job take?
How long a job takes comes down to how much there is and how easy it is to reach. A single item or a small load is quick work. A packed garage, a storage unit or a full estate cleanout is a bigger job, and anything larger than one truckload can run across two visits. You get a scheduled arrival window rather than a vague all-day promise, and the crew confirms the plan when the job is booked. Larger commercial and construction jobs are scheduled around your site access.
What happens to everything after you haul it away?
Items are sorted after pickup rather than driven straight to a landfill. Anything still in usable condition goes to local donation centers when they are accepting it. Metals, appliances and electronics go to area recycling facilities where those materials are accepted. Only what cannot be reused or recycled goes to disposal. This is how the crew works every job, not a special request, and it costs you nothing extra on the quote.
What kinds of cleanouts do you do?
Estate, eviction, hoarding, storage unit, garage, attic, basement, apartment and commercial cleanouts are all routine. These are the jobs where the dumpster question matters most, because a multi-day estate clearing is frequently cheaper with a container on-site than with a crew coming back repeatedly.
Do you handle demolition?
Light demolition, meaning decks, sheds, fences, interior drywall and concrete removal, along with hauling the debris out in the same visit. Structural and load-bearing work is outside what we take on, and we do not disconnect gas, electrical or plumbing lines, so anything needing a licensed trade has to be done before the crew arrives.
Do you accept refrigerators, air conditioners and electronics?
Yes. Freon-bearing appliances like refrigerators and window air conditioners are accepted, as are televisions, monitors, computers and general e-waste, and they are routed to the appropriate facility rather than the landfill. What we do not do is claim a refrigerant-recovery credential we do not hold. The handling is done properly through the facilities that are certified for it.
Pricing & Booking
Should I rent a dumpster or hire the junk removal crew?
Rent the container when the debris comes out over days rather than in one go, when you would rather not schedule around a crew, or when the material is construction debris you are generating as you work. Hire the crew when the pile already exists, when the items are heavy or awkward, or when you simply do not want to do the lifting. We do both, so the honest answer on the phone is whichever one costs you less for the job in front of you.
How does pricing work for a dumpster or a junk removal job?
Dumpster rental is quoted as one number on the booking call: delivery, 1 day of rental, the included weight and pickup are all in it, and you approve it before we dispatch a truck. Extra days are $10 each, and extra weight is $85 per ton. Junk removal is priced by volume, meaning how much space your items take up in the truck, and the crew gives you a firm number on site before anything gets loaded. Either way you hear the price first and decide second. No fuel surcharges, no disposal fees, nothing added at the end.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. Veterans, first responders, seniors, nurses and other healthcare workers, and teachers get a discount on every job. Mention it when you call, text, or send the contact form and it comes off your total.
What does the price include?
Labor, loading, hauling and disposal, in one number you approve before anything moves. Dense material such as roofing shingles is the one exception and is charged as a bed-load rate by the cubic yard. The crew identifies it on-site and includes it in your quote rather than adding it afterward.
Can I get a quote without anyone coming out?
Usually, yes. Text photos of what needs to go and Daniel will quote most jobs the same day. Larger or unusual ones, such as a hoarding situation, a full property clear or anything with tricky access, get confirmed on-site before work starts, because a photo cannot show how far the truck has to park from the door.
Is the on-site estimate free?
Always, and there is no obligation attached. The crew arrives inside your two-hour window, looks at what needs to go, and gives you a firm number. Decline it and you pay nothing for the visit and get no follow-up calls. For most jobs you can skip the visit entirely by texting photos, which gets you a quote the same day without anyone driving out.
What if there turns out to be more than we discussed?
The crew stops, re-measures against the published ladder, and shows you the revised tier and price. You approve it before anything additional is loaded. This comes up constantly on garage and estate work, where clearing the front third reveals another third nobody knew was there, so it is a normal part of the job rather than an awkward moment. You can also stop at the volume you already approved.
What are the arrival windows?
Five two-hour windows a day, seven days a week: 7 to 9, 9 to 11, 11 to 1, 1 to 3 and 3 to 5. You pick one and that is the window the crew works to. Weekend hours are normal hours here rather than an after-hours rate.
What payment methods do you take?
Cash, check, credit card, debit card, Zelle and Venmo, collected once the job is finished and you have looked over the cleared space. There is no deposit to book and nothing is charged before the work is done. Dumpster rentals are handled the same way at delivery.
Service Area & About Us
What if I am outside Modesto?
We cover 16 cities across Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties, including Stockton, Turlock, Manteca, Tracy, Sonora, Oakdale, Ripon, and Escalon. Text your address and we will confirm coverage. Calaveras and Tuolumne jobs run on separate outlying rates, which we give you before dispatch.
What makes Toss Out different from other junk removal companies?
We publish our prices instead of hiding them behind a quote form, and we charge by volume rather than by the hour, so a fast crew does not cost you more. Toss Out is owner-operated in Modesto by Daniel Martinez, licensed, bonded, and insured, with 197 five-star Google reviews since 2021.
How fast can you come to my city?
In Modesto and the surrounding core cities such as Turlock, Manteca, Ceres, Riverbank, and Stockton, same-day is often available and next-day is usually open. Farther out, in Sonora, Copperopolis, Valley Springs, and Tracy, next-day is typical and same-day depends on whether a route already has an opening. Call for exact availability on the date you want.
What if I am just outside your listed cities?
Call us anyway. If you are close to an area we already run, we can often cover you or work something out. It costs nothing to ask and we will give you a straight answer.
Do you handle apartment complexes and commercial properties?
Yes. We do commercial cleanouts, property-management turnovers, eviction and foreclosure clearouts, and dumpster rentals for businesses across all four counties. Call with the property details and we will quote the full scope.
Still Have a Question?
Call us directly. Real person, no hold music.
