Modesto Is Where the Trucks Start
Toss Out has run out of Modesto since 2021, and that changes what we can honestly promise here versus anywhere else on the service map.
A container going to a Modesto address is not a trip we have to build. It is on the route already. That is the whole reason same-day is realistic in this city rather than aspirational, and why we will give you a straight answer about the first open window instead of quoting three days out to protect ourselves.
It also means we know the streets. Which approaches are tight, which neighborhoods have canopy low enough to matter, and which addresses are going to turn into a permit conversation before we get there.
Sizing It Honestly
Most people ask for one size larger than the job needs, and an oversized container is money spent on air. The 14-yard suits one defined space and is the only size we also run as a dump trailer, which helps when the approach is tight. The 20-yard is the most common Modesto rental by a wide margin. The 30-yard is whole-house volume.
Between two sizes? Describe the rooms on the phone, or read what size you need.
Placement Across Modesto Neighborhoods
Modesto is not one kind of housing stock, and the right container changes with the street.
The newer development on the north and east sides, out past Sylvan and toward Dale Road, generally has wide straight driveways with open approach and no canopy problem. A 30-yard goes in without a second thought.
- Downtown Modesto, Graceada Park, and the Rose Garden District are a different conversation. Beautiful mature trees, narrower driveways, and less turnaround room for a truck that needs to back in straight. Frequently a 14-yard or 20-yard situation even when the project volume argues for something bigger. That is worth settling on the phone rather than at the curb.
- Beard Brook, Kimball Park, and Oak Park sit in between. Usually straightforward, occasionally tight, and it depends more on the individual lot than the neighborhood.
If your property is on a corner, has a shared driveway, sits behind a gate, or has a slope to the street, mention it. None of those are problems. They are just things we would rather know before the truck is on your block.
Permits and the Street
Driveway placement is the simple path. No permit, no city process, no negotiation about frontage.
The moment a container has to sit on the public street, it becomes a City of Modesto question, and that is a process you file rather than one we file for you. We are not going to tell you a permit is never needed, because it depends on your block and we are not the city.
What we will do is flag it when you give us the address, so you find out during the booking call rather than on delivery day. Managed communities and HOA properties frequently carry container rules stricter than the city’s, and around here the HOA catches more people than the city ever does. There is more detail on permits and placement.
What Goes In
Household junk, furniture, appliances, construction debris, roofing, flooring, and yard waste all go in. Wet paint, solvents, automotive fluids, batteries, and tires do not, and neither does concrete, soil, or rock. If you are looking at something and genuinely do not know, ask before it goes in rather than at the scale house. The full list is here.
When a Container Is the Wrong Tool
Worth saying plainly, because we do both and have nothing riding on the answer.
If the material is all sitting there right now, if you want it gone today, or if the heavy awkward items are the actual problem, a container in your driveway for a week is the slower option. Our junk removal crew loads it, sweeps the space, and leaves nothing behind.
The dumpster wins when debris arrives gradually over a remodel or a long clear-out, when you would rather work at your own pace, or when you are producing volume of one material. If you are on the fence, compare the two or just describe the job on the phone.
Booking
Call or text (209) 289-5650. Tell us the project, the address, and when you want to start.
You will get the container size we would bring, the full price before anything moves, and the first delivery window we actually have. No deposit games, no weight surcharge appearing at pickup on an ordinary household load, and no daily rate quietly running while you wait on a contractor.
