A Different Kind of Delivery
Sonora is not a longer version of a Valley delivery. It is a different job.
Two things change. The drive up and back is real, which is why Tuolumne County addresses carry a premium rate rather than the standard Valley pricing, quoted per address so you see the whole number before you approve it. And the approach at the other end is genuinely variable in a way a Modesto driveway never is.
Which means the booking call for Sonora is longer and more specific than the one for Turlock. That is not bureaucracy. It is how we avoid sending a truck up there that cannot place the container when it arrives.
The Approach Is the Whole Conversation
Describe five things and we can tell you what we can do.
- Grade. A loaded roll-off truck does not climb like a pickup, and it has to come back down carrying more weight than it went up with. Steep is the most common reason a foothill delivery gets downsized.
- Surface. Firm gravel and compacted dirt are usually fine. Soft ground after a wet stretch is how a truck ends up stuck, and how you end up with ruts through your approach.
- Width at the tightest point. Not the average width. The narrowest spot, which is usually a gate, a cut between two trees, or a bend near the house.
- Turnaround. The truck has to get out again. Somewhere to swing around matters as much as somewhere to set the container down.
- Overhead. Foothill properties have serious tree cover, and the truck raises the container high above car height to set it and retrieve it. Look up along the whole approach, not just at the drop point.
Send photos if it is easier than describing it. We would rather spend two minutes looking at your driveway than send a truck that has to turn around.
Defensible Space and Vegetation Clearing
A large share of Sonora rentals are fire-season clearing, and it is the category people size wrong most often.
Cleared brush, limbs, and undergrowth take up an enormous amount of container for very little weight. A property cleared to code produces far more volume than the same property’s household contents would. If you are clearing acreage rather than a yard, assume you need more container than instinct suggests.
Stumps and root balls are the exception. Soil clinging to roots is not material we take, so knock off what you can before it goes in and say so when you book.
What Else We Bring Containers Up For
Cabin and second-home clearing. Long-held properties, full outbuildings, decades of accumulation.
Remodels and rebuilds. Same materials as anywhere, different logistics getting them out.
Estate and property-sale clearing. The classic 30-yard job, when the driveway can take one.
Deck, shed, and outbuilding teardowns. Bulky, light, volume-driven.
Which Size We Can Actually Place
We run the same three containers up there as we do in the Valley: a 14-yard, a 20-yard, and a 30-yard. What changes is which one your property can take.
The 14-yard is the shortest and lowest, and it is the container that gets placed on approaches the others cannot. It is also the only size we run as a dump trailer as well as a roll-off.
The 20-yard is the workable middle for most foothill properties with a reasonable approach.
The 30-yard needs open access and clear overhead along the whole route in. Plenty of Sonora properties have it. Plenty do not, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than at your gate.
The size comparison covers what each one holds.
What Goes In
Household contents, furniture, appliances, construction debris, drywall, wood, metal, roofing, flooring, brush, and yard waste all go in. Freon appliances and electronics are accepted, and worth flagging at booking.
Wet paint, solvents, automotive fluids, batteries, and tires do not. That is a disposal facility rule rather than ours, and one wrong item can get an entire load turned away at the scale house. The accepted list has the rest, and cabin properties in particular are worth a careful look before loading.
Booking
Call or text (209) 289-5650. Have the address ready, along with a description of the approach and roughly what is going in the container.
You will get an honest answer about what we can place, one quoted number covering the whole rental including the outlying-county premium, and a delivery window rather than a hope. If full-service junk removal turns out to be the better tool for your property, we will say that too.
